Include your iPhone model, iOS version and what happened. Please leave out personal photos and baby details unless they are needed.
Getting started
Version 1.2.0 opens with sample scenes: tap Explore sample scenes to try every age for free, or Use your camera to make the one-time purchase. Camera permission is requested after unlocking. Choose an age on the curved path below the picture. Expand the picture to inspect it, or hold it to compare with the adult view. Use the book button for Science and Add baby for an optional profile. If you have version 1.1.0, all camera features are included in your paid download.
The camera is blank
Open iPhone Settings → Apps → Early Eyes and allow Camera access. Return to the app. If the camera still does not appear, close and reopen Early Eyes, then try switching between the front and rear cameras.
Zoom and Life size
Use the scale slider below the framed picture, or pinch the picture, to move between Full view and Life size. Life size aims to match the scene’s size when you hold the phone at arm’s length. Zooming out shows more of the scene at a smaller scale. Phone position, camera limitations and viewing distance affect the result.
Saved moments and sharing
Tap the shutter to keep a moment, then open Moments and select it to explore other ages. The gallery holds up to 60 moments. Export anything you want to keep elsewhere before older moments are removed. Sharing happens only when you choose a destination.
Purchases and refunds
Early Eyes is the new name for First Light. The current App Store release, 1.1.0, is a paid download with camera access included. In the upcoming 1.2.0 release, sample scenes, every age and Science will be free to explore; the live camera will be a one-time in-app purchase ($3.99 US), with no subscription. Existing paid customers keep camera access at no extra cost. In 1.2.0, Restore purchase is available on the opening screen and in the baby sheet. Apple handles payment and refund requests and decides refund eligibility.
What the picture means
Early Eyes estimates visual information available during typical infant development. It cannot show a baby’s subjective experience or assess an individual child’s vision. It is an educational tool, not a vision test or medical device.
